Karen Carmean paints in oil. “Color and reflected light excite me. I use a limited palette which enables me to explore the world of color. I use a portable system of painting which allows me to get outside and paint in different locations with minimal setup time. If you enjoy seeing, doodling, working with your hands, would you consider sharing your joy? I love being outside and painting the beauty of the Berkshires. Come join us!”

Keith Emerling paints in oil and watercolor. What intrigues him about Plein Air is explained here: “Painting “En Plein Air” is a French term adopted about the time of the Barbizon School and the Impressionists that simply means “in the open air” or painting outdoors. The invigorating experience of combining the immediate observations made from nature while creating art outdoors, powerfully influences the artistic process. The shifting light and the changes in weather transform the subject from one minute to the next, creating a liveliness in the work and a challenging platform for creating art in this way. The experience connects the artist to nature in a deeply personal way and reflects that vitality back in the finished artwork.  "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."

~ Albert Einstein

Jon Caplan is a photographer. “Since the onset of Covid in March 2020, I’ve been more focused on local landscapes, finding solace in my frequent Coronamania Therapy walks.  I love the interplay of light and color during the "golden hour" particularly on Baldwin Hill and the surrounding area, which has inspired me to attempt to capture the bucolic beauty of Egremont and the Berkshires.

Walt Pasko is primarily a Plein Air painter but does not exclude making minor adjustments in the studio in order to improve the design, drawing, and brushwork. He uses his own version of the traditional Gloucester easel, paintbox, palette, panel carriers, palette cups, and umbrella support. He carries Masonite panels in sizes from 12×16 to 24×30 as he scouts Berkshire County, MA for subject matter in his van.

Pat Hogan specializes in paintings inspired by nature.  Recent works reflect her respect and love for our beautiful Berkshires, the mountains and seacoast of Maine, and the vanishing islands of the Chesapeake Bay. She is passionate about watercolor and the illusions created through the transparency and luminescence of the medium. New work includes figure drawings, mixed media pieces, and encaustics. Her paintings are in private collections in England, Sweden, and throughout the United States.
